No matter what you’re doing. This is true in both your personal and professional lives. Without regular work outs you won’t meet your fitness goals. Without continuing education you won’t stay on top of your business. The same goes for your marketing strategy. Without regular, relevant and relatable content you won’t get the results you need.
Many people, especially small businesses, run their own content. In their busy lives they have carved out time to tweet, post or share something from their business… sometimes. Let’s be honest, for most people social media is a low priority. They may not understand it and they don’t have the time to run it. That results in infrequent and divergent content. To maintain your followers and create influence people need to know that they can count on your posts. They need to know what to expect from you. Are you offering promotions and discounts? As soon as you stop sharing your content your followers anticipate, you will start to lose them. Out of sight and out of mind is extremely true here.
The challenge is you can’t just post any old thing. Again, consistency. What you’re posting needs to be reflect your business, your voice, your brand. It needs to be relatable and make your followers feel like they are part of your community. Something totally random without an explanation as to why it is being shared may turn off many of your followers and you’ll lose them. This doesn’t mean you can’t try new things. In fact, we encourage it. Only, be strategic about it. Make sure it is something that you want to bring into your business. Have fun with it, but remember: be consistent.
